Esha Gupta seems to be the natural choice as a replacement for Jacqueline Fernandez in her films

The replacement theory seems to be working in Esha Gupta's favour. The actress seems to be bagging films by stepping into roles that were originally offered to someone else. And strangely Esha has this uncanny link with Jacqueline Fernandez -- she keeps replacing the Sri Lankan in film after film.

In the most recent instance, Esha has apparently replaced Jacqueline in Sajid Khan's next film, which stars Saif Ali Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. According to B-Town gossip, Sajid did not want his ex-flame in his project and roped in Esha instead.


Earlier, Esha had replaced Jacqueline in Vikram Bhatt's Raaz 3. Buzz was that Jacqueline had expressed her reservations about the kind of costumes she had to wear in the film. Consequently, the makers replaced her with Esha.

There was also speculation that after Jacqueline declined Rakesh Roshan's upcoming sci-fi film, Esha was under consideration for the role.

Says a B-Town observer, `Both seem to have some strange link. Esha seems to have become B-Town's replacement actress for Jacqueline.`


Esha has done an item number in Punit Malhotra's upcoming Kareena-Imran Khan starrer. There is buzz on that front too -- that she was not the original choice. She was pencilled in for the track at the last-minute and had shot for it without any reservations.

Says a source, `The makers had approached other names including Jacqueline for the item number but when they declined, Esha was the nth hour replacement. In Chakravyuh, too, there were other names considered before she was asked to play the cop's role.`

Interestingly, Esha's replacement track record began with her debut film Jannat 2. Prachi Desai was the first choice but after she had her reservations about doing a bold role, the makers were keen on Paoli Dam. But later it was Esha's sensual appeal that made director Kunal Deshmukh bring her on board.


In an earlier interview with HitList, when asked about replacing other actresses, Esha had said, `At the end it is who does the role matters. These roles were meant for me.`
