Shreyas Talpade has been missing in action for a while. On his micro-blogging site, he has been replying to his fans who want to know when he'll be back on the big screen by telling them a `little more time`.
The actor has not been spotted on the social circuit as well. Considered to be one of the promising actors after his Hindi debut Iqbal who even shared screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, the actor seems to have found suddenly himself scarce.
Early this year a film was launched with him to be directed by debutant Ajit Sinha (former assistant to Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria) and produced by Narendra Singh. This was followed by his inclusion in Neeraj Pathak's Sunny Deol starrer. Both projects apparently have got stuck.
To add to Shreyas's woes, his first Hindi production Chemistry starring Soha Ali Khan and Tanishaa besides himself has been mired in production issues and is unlikely to see light of day.
Interestingly, Chemistry was the directorial debut of Sai Kabir who is now directing a Kangna Ranaut starrer.
Says an industry observer, `Shreyas had proved himself in both serious and comic roles. He was considered a fine actor but his last few films like Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal, Joker and Hum Tum Shabana proved to be duds. Even though he did multi-starrers like Housefull 2 and Golmaal 3, it did not translate into big offers.`
Adds the source, `He was disillusioned after his first Hindi production, shot in Paris, could not see light of day. Shreyas had his own vision for the project that did not match with the co-producers.`
The actor had floated his production banner and made the Marathi film Sanai Chaughade that was backed by Subhash Ghai. Adds the source, `He was keen to branch out into producing Hindi films but his first project faced a roadblock.`
Shreyas's spokesperson however maintains, `He will be leaving for Agra later this month for the shoot of his film. As for his Hindi film production plans, he was only helping a friend.`
