After the Censor Board adjudged his comeback production as having adult content, Mithun Chakraborthy can't hide his anger. The veteran actor-producer alleges that despite his film not depicting sex, violence, bloodshed, abuses and disrespect to the nation or even violence towards any woman, the board took a tough stand against it.
The senior actor is extremely miffed with the apparent first-of-its-kind judgment (the 'A' certification) carried out by the CB. The film centres around the underworld-politics nexus.
Says Mithun, `There is no gaali, no sex or abusing politicians. My subject is not adult and they didn't hand out a single cut. I have made the film with my hard-earned money. I told them I am ready to cut anything they object to but even that was not accepted.`
A few days ago, the makers also altered a few lyrics in the film that the board had objected to.
Adds Mithun, `There was a scene where our leading lady Yuvika Chaowhury gets slapped and I asked my director Ashu Trikha to remove it before it went to the censors. I will have to incur huge financial losses. I am shattered by the news.`
Ashu too is a disappointed man. The director questions the board's decision and states, `How can this theme be adult?`
Suniel Shetty, who plays a lead role in the film, rues that due to the release date inching closer, nothing much can be done to reverse the situation. `Everyday there is a scam and much more is seen on TV today. We fail to understand the reasoning.`
The Censor Board officials remained unavailable for comment.
