Shreyas Talpade is out of his self-imposed hibernation to be back in the scheme of things. The actor admits that it was a conscious decision to step away from B-Town for some introspection.
Says the actor, `After seeing what happened to my last two films Joker and Kamaal Dhamaal Maalamaal, I decided to lie low. Things were going wrong and it was time to do a rethink.
I wanted to analyse where my career was heading. Many people ask me why I am not doing films like Dor, Iqbal and Golmaal. I needed to decide where I wanted to be. Where I was heading. So the best way was to get away from it all.`
As reported 'Where is Shreyas?' (Hitlist, June 10), the actor has been missing in action for quite a while leading to speculations about his whereabouts.
In the months of lying low, he kept himself occupied putting thoughts onto paper. He hopes to share them with a writer and develop a script. `I am an actor, not a writer so I can only toss ideas and discuss story ideas.`
Shreyas has now completed the shoot of his next directed by debutant Ajit Sinha that has Manjari Fadnis as his co-star. `The film is about a common man's struggles, ` says Shreyas, who will also be seen in a Sunny Deol starrer.
Shelved project
His film directed by debutant Sai Kabir with Soha Ali Khan and Tanishaa Mukerji as co-stars, is no longer happening. He claims, `The film has been shelved. I was involved in the production aspects because of my friendship with Sai as well as some people associated with the project.
I was not a producer on paper. I was not even charging anything for the film. Sai had narrated the story to me and I was kicked about it. We even shot for it in Paris. But the project ran into problems. It became an ego issue with some of the folks associated with the project. Soha as well as I tried our best to get it back on track but could not. Certain things in life are not meant to happen.`
