After the lukewarm response to Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, the Deols are apparently having a rethink about their next production to be directed by Sangeeth Sivan. Over two years ago, Sivan was slated to direct Cheers, a father-son saga with Dharmendra and Bobby Deol.
The film was put on hold and instead Sivan was roped in to direct the sequel to their comic caper. It was announced that after YPD2 they would roll the film. But sources claim the box office fate has made them look at the project anew.
Says a source, `The Deols were disappointed that YPD2 did not receive a favourable response. The first outing was a huge draw and they had hoped to match it with the sequel. It however fell far below expectations.`
Adds the source, `Sangeeth Sivan too was taken aback with the response the film fetched. He was upset and decided to lie low for a while and introspect.`
Before the release of YPD 2, Sivan had stated that he would rework on the film to also star Sunny Deol. He had declared that Cheers would also commemorate Dharmendra's 50 years in the Hindi film industry.
Dharmendra's spokesperson maintains, `There is all kind of news floating around. We are working on the script and an announcement will be made at the right time.`
While Sivan says, `I am presently travelling. The film will happen though not immediately. It is a joint decision to give it more time.`
