Filmmaker Kiran Rao, who has carved herself a separate identity from her actor-husband Aamir Khan, is happy directing movies that focus on human interest without worrying about box-office success and records

"I think you can't blame people as they have this way of judging you as Aamir Khan's wife and there is nothing wrong with that identity. Until I made 'Dhobi Ghat' people did not knew what kind of a person or films I could make, what are my interests and talents," Kiran said.

"But now people view me through a different lens. It took a film for an audience to see what I do. Now people see me as a separate filmmaker other than Aamir. I have my own work, aesthetics," she said. Though she is just one film old as a director, Kiran is pretty clear of what kind of films she would not make.

"Films like 'Dabangg', 'Rowdy Rathore' don't excite me as a filmmaker... I don't think I can make it. It is unlikely that I will make films like them," she said.

Tell her that these are movies that did Rs 100 crore business, she says, "The Rs 100 crore is not that important to me as a filmmaker. I am very excited that films are doing well. I feel any film that is successful, is good for all films. It is a great energy that comes from successful films."

"There are some good films which may not have a good box office run but they might be of greater value in other way. I am not fascinated with Rs 100 crore club in any way. I don t think I can ever make a film thinking I want to break some box office records. It does not excite me," Kiran said.

"I like making human stories, interesting characters. I am intrigued by why people make choices that they make, how we change in life, how people and things affect us.

So people interest me a lot. I think my films will be about my interests. I like photography and visual image...I don't do them. Films that I make would be cohesive and make sense but artistically help me move ahead," she said.

Post her directorial debut 'Dhobi Ghat', Kiran has been busy writing a script. "But I have started writing for my next film. I don't know when, what. I will make the film only if it is worth and valuable," she said. Presently, Kiran is busy promoting 'Ship of Thesus' which releases on July 19. Also as a producer, there are couple of scripts that are interesting.

"Next few years will be great for us. 'Satyameva Jayate 2' will be aired by the end of this year or beginning of next year. The research is on for that... as research takes lot of time. We don't want to commit a date," Kiran said.
