Shashanka Ghosh, who directed movies like "Waise Bhi Hota Hai 2" and "Quick Gun Murugan", will helm the part two.
"I am happy that they are taking ahead the film. It will be a franchise now. I am not directing the film, but I wish good luck to the team. I don't know the story of the sequel, but I know the director very well and I am happy for him. I hope the sequel does better than the first one, " Shah told.
"Chalo Dilli" marked model-turned-actress Lara Dutta's maiden production venture, which saw her playing the lead along with Vinay Pathak. Produced under her banner Bheegi Basanti Productions, the film came out in 2011 and critics described it as a refreshing story with a lot of heart.
Shah said: "When we finished shooting for 'Chalo Dilli', Lara and (her husband and tennis ace) Mahesh Bhupati asked me to write the sequel, but I didn't see the story going ahead. So, later Lara informed me that they are making a sequel and I was more than happy for her."
In the sequel, Lara and Vinay will be seen in the key roles.
