The recently release Sixteen, with a host of debutants, has managed to create quite a buzz amidst the other films that hit the marquee on a rainy Friday. The film took a decent opening in the metros and has been garnering positive response from youth.
We spoke to few prominent personalities from the industry about what they thought of the film after watching it.
Sudhir Mishra - It is such a real and wonderful film with some very good performances by these young kids. The film correctly captures the confusion and joys of being 16.
R Madhavan - Wish I were sixteen now. The film shows great insight into the world of teens and is handled aptly.
Madhur Bhandarkar - The film is very real, reflects the youth of today. Hats off to producers Shailesh Singh and Vishwas Joshi for backing such good content.
Taran Adarsh - Sixteen is well intentioned and tackles relevant issues. Raj Purohit ensures that he packs in quite a bit in those two-plus hours. Actually, Purohit makes a genuine attempt to narrate not one, but varied stories in the film and each of them, in some way, mirrors the lives of youngsters who stand on the threshold of adulthood.
Shobhaa De - Sixteen makes a bold and radical statement that immediately dates other films, which tamely deal with contemporary adult sexuality. A movie that tackles teens' problems in an upfront way is certainly laying the path for future explorations of a prickly subject.
