He was particularly touched when the thespian came to see his film 'Black' and had a special word of praise for his acting.
''Not only that, but he was nice enough to go back home and send me a note about my role in the film. That was a most touching moment for me,'' he added.
He said Dilip Kumar, Motlilal and Hollywood stars like Al Pacino had been his screen idols from childhood.
But Amitabh admitted that he had thoroughly enjoyed acting in 'Bunty aur Babli' which proved to be his second film with Rani Mukherji this year since he had earlier appeared with her in 'Black'.
''Abhishek and I were typical artistes on the sets and I was the parent only at home. And I never criticised him. But he did, particularly in the dancing scenes. It was nice to pack our lunch together, leave for the same studios in the same car, eat together, and return home in the evening. It is a good feeling,'' he added.
He said in reply to a question that there was nothing in the offing at present to act with his wife Jaya who had appeared with him after several years, in the film 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'.
