Police get non-bailable warrant against half of Nadeem-Shravan duo from Indore court after a financier alleged he didn't return the money he took to invest in films

The Oshiwara police on Wednesday received a non-bailable warrant against well-known Bollywood music director, Shravan Kumar, from an Indore court in a Rs 15 lakh cheating case.

The matter came to court's notice after a financier approached the court around two years back, accusing him of fraud.

One of his Indore-based sponsors, Vinit Sharma, dragged him to court for allegedly cheating him to the tune of more than Rs 15 lakh. The dispute began after they finalised a Rs 35-lakh deal to make films.

Shravan, of the famed Nadeem-Shravan duo, has made music for various hit flicks, specially in the '90s.

Incidentally, when cops and the complainant reached Shravan's house in the controversial Meera Apartment, where flats allotted to IPS and IAS officers have been give out on rent, they found that Shravan also resided in the building on rent but was missing.

The building was in thenews recently after a police raid on an alleged flesh trade racket involving high-profile call girls operating out of there.

According to Sharma, who came to the Oshiwara police station from Indore, around two years back, Shravan approached him through someone he knew and asked him for Rs 35 lakh to invest in the film industry to make low-budget movies. After Sharma paid him the amount recovering it was proving to be a problem.

Making excuses

`For the first six months after the deal, Shravan was just making excuses to defer paying me back. But when I came down heavily on him, he started intimidating me.

After six months, he returned around Rs 20 lakh but asked me to forget about the remaining amount. I did not have any way out but to approach the court. I filed the case in Indore court but he did not show up for hearing. He also threatened me, ` Sharma added.

An officer from Oshiwara police station said on condition of anonymity, `A manhunt has been launched to nab Shravan as he is not in his house; he's residing in a rented apartment which is reserved for an IAS officer. We will arrest him and later produce him in court. `

The officer added, `Through the non-bailable warrant we came to know that Shravan had cheated one of his Indore-based financiers of Rs 15 lakh, and was booked under sections 420 and 138 of the IPC for that. We are carrying out investigations, ` the officer added.
