Brushing aside allegations that it was ‘favouring' movies of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday said
decisions to allot tax-free tags were taken collectively by the state Cabinet.
"It was a decision of the state Cabinet," PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav said in reply to a question on why the Bachchan-starrer Bunty Aur Babli was accorded tax-free
status.
He said such decisions were ‘taken by the state Cabinet collectively'.
The Mulayam Singh government had on previous occasions waived taxes on two other Bachchan films, ,Waqt and Baghban.
Shivpal Yadav also denied that the SP was opposed to the Women's Reservation Bill, saying it ‘only wanted some changes in the Bill'.
