"I totally agreed with them though I hadn't seen any of his films. I have caught up on all of them now, " says the actor, who is all excited about her upcoming projects, one with Salman and the other with Ranbir Kapoor. In a freewheeling interview, she talks to CS about her career and how Bollywood has changed her as a person.
The right moves
I have never strategised my career. In fact, I'm extremely spontaneous. It's just about what I feel like doing and what I don't believe in doing. Patience also has been an important factor in my journey so far. I am blessed to have amazing people around me who have always believed in me.
As far as the talk of mine being reserved about my personal life working in favour of my professional life is concerned, I would like to say that I am a very private person by nature. I talk about personal things only with few friends and family.
The 'outsider'
I never felt like an outsider in Bollywood. The people I met have been warm throughout. However, I did feel the need to prove to the industry people that I was focused as an actress and someone they could trust to deliver what was needed for a character.
Recently, I shot for an English film in Sri Lanka. I did that film just because the script was amazing. I feel that as an actor I need to be versatile and balance my career with commercial as well as content-driven films.
Not so naive
I treat Bollywood as a business I always need to be professional towards. I have definitely become a more responsible person but I have always been like that right from my childhood. I hate the fact that I have become a lot less trusting and naive, it's great professionally, but somewhere I miss those days when life seemed so rosy (smiles). Unfortunately, you have to be careful.
B-Town buddies
Sonam (Kapoor) is an amazing person. She is a genuine girl with no insecurities whatsoever. Asin and I really bonded during the shoot of Housefull2 and have continued to remain good friends. When we all get together there are like just a huge group of us girls and no guys allowed! We cook, eat, laugh, watch chick flicks, and get manicures and do some silly things!
