It was an invitees-only party hosted by the Moranis and graced by SRK and other biggies in a posh Bandra bar; and yet, an unidentified man managed to slink in, steal Krishika Lulla's clutch, and leave undetected
If you thought crimes like pickpocketing and petty theft were limited to narrow lanes and busy stations, think again. When Krishika Lulla walked into a party on Monday night, the last thing on her mind was the safety of the clutch she was carrying.
Lulla, who is the wife of Sunil Lulla, managing director of Eros Entertainment, was a guest to the party hosted by the Moranis, producers and event organisers, to celebrate the birthday of their daughter Yasmin Morani at Escobar on Linking Road, Bandra.
The party was attended by the who's who of the industry, and friends of the family. Shah Rukh Khan also made a special appearance at the party.
Around midnight, Krishika placed her silver clutch, which contained two expensive mobiles, on a table next to her. She turned away for what she claims was just a second to bid goodbye to a friend who was leaving the party. When she turned around to retrieve the clutch, it was nowhere in sight.
With the help of the Moranis, Krishika managed to get the CCTV footage of the event from Escobar. The TV grab solved the mystery - a well-dressed young man approaches her while pretending to dance, grabs her clutch, shoves it into his trousers, and coolly walks away.
Krishika showed the suspect's picture to each of the guests present at the party, but none could identify the culprit. It became clear that the thief had gatecrashed the party, with the explicit intention of stealing.
Krishika has lodged a complaint with the Khar police station. Speaking about the experience, she said, `I am shocked that someone can so blatantly enter a party and steal, without anyone suspecting anything. This is scary. `
