It's been almost three years since Parineeti Chopra made her big Bollywood debut and she has already carved her place in the elite club of A-list actresses. With her upcoming film Shuddh Desi Romance set for release, she has four more projects lined up.
Having started her career as a marketing executive in Yash Raj Films, Priyanka Chopra's cousin has made sure not to let stardom go to her head. But just like any of her peers, Parineeti has managed to grab headlines with her alleged dalliances. An excerpt:
After your second film, you suddenly had no project in hand. Did that scare you?
After Ishaqzaade I got a lot of offers. I can't even remember the numbers. I was reading a script everyday. But since they were all similar to Ishaqzaade, I didn't want to sign them. Post that I was offered films that boasted of impressive star cast like Thupaki but there wasn't much for me to do. But now I have five films.
Do you consider Priyanka's success as your benchmark in Bollywood?
No, she is just my sister. If I have already set a benchmark, how do I convince myself to perform even better?
There was a lot of buzz about you and Maneesh Sharma.
That buzz will always be there since I spend so much time with him. People had also linked me with Uday Chopra but they are simply good friends. We laugh about such things. I became very good friends with Maneesh during Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and today he is my closest friend. He is my go-to person just like Aditya Chopra.
Both you and your co-star Vaani Kapoor are single.
(Laughs) I think many girls are single. I'm open to relationships but I don't think I can meet the right kind of people since my work schedule is so hectic. I think I will have to find someone on the sets but when you are working with them day in day out, you don't think about it. I think I need to take a holiday. May be I will meet someone special.
Will you ever opt for a live-in relationship?
If I think it is right and if my man thinks it is right. If our families are okay with it and if we don't have time to get married right away, then may be. It would be more of a practical decision. Normally people say live-in is wrong as people think it involves pre-marital sex. It's all about perception. I would go for it if my parents are okay with it. I'm sure they will say yes! (Laughs)
With Priyanka's father recently passing away, how is the mood at home?
It was his birthday a few days ago, so Priyanka was not in a great mood. We can't believe it's been months already that he hasn't been around. But Priyanka is very busy, which is very good for her.
