A life-long dream nurtured by Aamir Khan turned into reality when the actor took off for Australia in August to learn tap dancing from professional dancers

Aamir plays a circus gymnast in his next film with Aditya Chopra's banner and his real-life skills apparently helped him to ace his part.

Sources close to the actor say he learnt the basics of the dance form in Mumbai for a week and then flew to Down Under for three weeks. Insiders at the production house say that it was when Aamir said aloud his thoughts to Aditya Chopra that the producer asked him to follow his dream and that he could incorporate it into the film as well.

A source close to Aamir says, `He always wanted to learn tap dance and it's not easy. One has to practise it everyday. He had mentioned it to Aditya and Vijay (director of Dhoom 3) that he wanted to learn tap dancing and they decided to make him dance for Dhoom 3. It requires a lot of practice.` The source also adds how Aamir wants to keep dancing in his spare time even after shooting for the film concludes.
