Looks like members of the South film industry are in for a mini vacation. Insiders say a celebratory event has been chalked up to mark the 100 years of Indian cinema and all shoots have been cancelled in order to accommodate the festivities

The South Indian Film Chamber Of Commerce is planning a four-day extravaganza where the likes of Sridevi will be honoured for their contributions to Indian cinema.

Says an insider, “It will be a rare occasion where stalwarts from all the South industries (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka) will gather under one roof to celebrate regional cinema.

Ministers and government appointed dignitaries from each of the four states are expected to attend. President Pranab Mukherjee will grace the occasion as the chief guest. The valedictory function has been marked for today. Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor will also be felicitated at the gala.
