Much to the dismay of his friends and family, Sanjay Dutt's much talked-about play that was to be staged at the Yerwada jail in Pune has been postponed. Insiders say jail authorities decided to pull the plug on yesterday's show titled Teemiratun...Tejakade (From darkness to light) citing security reasons.
Dutt's near and dear ones, including Maanayata, sisters Namrata and Priya with their husbands, Rohit Shetty, Bunty Walia and Navin Shetty were already on their way to Pune when they received an SMS informing them of the cancellation.
With the play scheduled to be held at 4 pm, the folks had left Mumbai in the morning. The play was to star 50 inmates from the jail, along with Dutt. After the play was cancelled, a press conference was called to announce that the sponsors and the audience would be refunded their money.
A teary-eyed Walia later said, "We will be informed about the next show. No other reason was provided by the jail authorities other than that a security threat was looming large. I am so upset. I haven't seen Sanju from the time he went to jail."
The producer later took to Twitter saying, "Unreal on our way to Pune to watch Sanjus play have just been told it's cancelled due to security reasons. Didn't they know from before!!!" (sic)
