Arora alleges that Veena never bothered to pay for the 10 costly sarees which she wore through various events and retained. The total cost of the saris is around Rs 6 lakh. As many as 5 saris have been returned. `It's been a year when the outfits were borrowed and since then we have made countless phone calls to Veena and her stylist but to no avail. They just don't respond,` laments the designer. Arora is frustrated to keep begging for the money or the return of the outfits that Veena continues to wear during various TV events.
Lessons have been learnt, Arora's designer wife Monika has resolved not to lend any of their pieces to Bollywood stars without charging.
When contacted Veena said that it was just a stunt to defame her. She didn't even know Kapil Arora. Her stylist did borrow some saris and she had paid her stylist a year ago. That was it.
Another designer Rina Dhaka has a different grievance. She says, `Actors are like kids. They do not care for the outfits; they stamp on and stain the costly designer wear. If one loans a garment for a film it is worse.`
Dhaka adds that the stars never give a thought to the time (months) that goes in putting the dress together. If they look gorgeous wearing our outfits they should be respecting the dress and the designer as well.
