"I am comfortable with any genre except sex and horror. I am more of a comedy, action, romance type of a guy," Javed told IANS in a telephonic interview.
The actor has been seen as a funnyman in films like "Salaam Namaste", "Dhamaal" and "Singh Is Kinng" and is loved for his sense of humour. But this becomes more of a limitation for him.
"Nothing works like success. I have been successful in comic roles and people think that is all that I can do. It is very important for me to do different things so that people see that my range is more than just comedy," he said.
"I have done films like 'The Forest' and '8 X 10 Tasveer'. I have played various kinds of roles. There are various territories that I have explored as an actor," he added.
Javed will be seen in a comic role in upcoming war comedy, "War Chhod Na Yaar".
"Here my character is comical, but my role is not an over the top. It is a serious film, but the situation is comical," he said.
The film is one of the first in its genre in the country. The actor assures that the movie will not offend anyone, even though it talks about the Indo-Pak situation.
"I think it is very balanced. There is nothing that could be offensive. There are certain realities that everyone will agree to," he said.
Javed has his plate full at the moment with "Bang Bang" and "Joe B Carvalho".
"'Bang Bang' will release next year. I play the villain in that. Then there is 'Joe B Carvalho', which is a mad comedy," he said.
