Directed by Anand Kumar, the film is set in Uttar Pradesh and tells the story of two children who grow up in a factory that makes handmade pistols and become excellent shooters at an early age.
"I would like to tell you that I am playing a character older than my age so it is very challenging for me. I am looking forward to it," Tia told reporters here.
The film went on the floors Wednesday.
"I am very excited. So far, I have done very different films. But this is different and a totally new experience for me," added the actress, who did horror film "1920- Evil Returns".
"Desi Kattey" also features Suniel Shetty and Sashaa Aagha. It marks the Bollywood debut of TV actor Jay Bhanushali and yesteryears star Vinod Khanna's nephew Akhil Kapur.
