Abhinav Kashyap's latest release 'Besharam' may have faced the music at the box office, but if rumours are to be believed, the film's lead, Ranbir Kapoor went laughing all the way to the bank.
Sources close to the star say that RK had been contemplating on a fee hike for a while and decided to act on it just before signing Kashyap's film, charging the makers a whopping amount of Rs 20 crore-plus.
Says a source, `Ayan Mukerji's 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' did very well at the ticket windows, prompting Ranbir to decide to raise his asking amount. He finally decided to hike it by 50 per cent.` Ranbir apparently has also charged the same amount from close friend and debutant director, Vicky Singh for a 10-day schedule for his film Roy as the remuneration for his extended cameo.
Says a trade expert, on conditions of anonymity, `Ranbir is already being regarded as a star with his winning streak in the industry. 'Besharam' may have tanked at the box office but the actor seems to have surely gained from their deal.` Ranbir remained unavailable for comment.
