The remake rights of Salman Khan's next has been purchased at Rs 4.5 crore, said to be the highest ever in Bollywood

While there has been no dearth of Bollywood remakes of South films in the recent times, Salman Khan's upcoming film 'Jai Ho' seems to have set a record of sorts. Insiders say the remake rights of the film, from director AR Murugadoss, were purchased at a whopping Rs 4.5 crore, the highest for any South remake.

The original film, Stalin, starring Cheeranjivi, did brisk business of Rs 30 crore when it released in 2006. Though the makers are tight-lipped about the financial transaction, a source close to the project says, `The deal has been done at an exorbitant amount.` However, the director of Jai Ho, Sohail Khan, denied it.
