Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned 40 yesterday and the star celebrated it with style.

While addressing the media, Ash said that this year's birthday was special and it was her daughter Aaradhya who made it so.

`Since Thursday evening, Aaradhya had started singing happy birthday to me.

She slept late, so she sang and wished me at midnight too. In between, she also began singing happy birthday to herself and then again for me.

It is special because I taught her the birthday song and now she is singing it for me,` said the actress, who seemed to have shed oodles of weight and looked stunning in a red Abu-Sandeep outfit.
