It has been 38 years since Sholay released. And now the classic is being revived with a 3D version.

So much so it has even bagged a release date.

Though 3D conversion has been in the making for a long time, now the film is finally ready to see the light of the day. `The film has gone through a string of possible release dates earlier -- August 15, the actual day on which the film had originally released -- later it was pushed to October 11 -- Amitabh Bachchan's birthday -- but then again that didn't work out. Anyway, now the release date is finally confirmed which is January 3, 2014,` says an insider.

The film has been picked up by UTV for release and the company has major plans for the release. `They have already confirmed Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan to be part of promotions. They have also purchased the full India theatrical rights after watching the film,` adds the source.

Producer Jayantilal Gada confirmed the buzz.
