The Board has banned a song claiming that it contains objectionable lyrics. According to their directive, the song, Palang Tod, cannot be shown on national television.
Sunny and Anil who had to rework the trailer of their film after the CBFC dictate, have now approached the Revising Committee. The track in question is a special song-and-dance number, Khaike palang tod paan, Tune le li meri jaan, Haari haari main to haari, Chal hat beimaan, picturised on Sunny Deol, Simran Khan and Prakash Raj.
The Board's intervention came at a time when the makers were planning to release the song during Diwali to make the most of the festive season, when TV TRPs are usually at an annual high.
Sharma, the director of the film said, "My promotional strategy has been spoiled. I don't think the song deserved such an extreme reaction, The Board has okayed other songs which were far more offensive. We have been needlessly targeted."
The decision comes at a time when the I & B Ministry is considering setting up a separate committee (headed by retired Judge Mukul Mudgal) to clear songs before exhibition.
