It's either a case of negligence or pure coincidence. Shweta Salve and Deepak Tijori, who stay in Garden Estates Co-Op Housing Society in Goregaon, apparently have not paid the building maintenance for the past two years. The last notice was served to them in August, a copy of which is in possession of MiD DAY.
Shweta, who owns flat A-1404 in her and her mother Hema D Salve's name, used to live there with her parents earlier but has now shifted to Bandra. Deepak Tijori owns two flats B-901 and 902 under his and his wife Shivani's name.
The society will apparently take action against them under Section 101 of the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act, 1960. There are a lot of celebrities who stay in the building and along with Tijori and Salve, telly actress Pooja Ghai's name also figures in the list of the people who haven't cleared their dues.
Interestingly, Shweta's mother Hema used to be part of the building committee. `She was asked to step down because the pending amount wasn't given,` said a source.
In his defence, Deepak said, `I have not received any notice this year and all the dues have been paid.`
Shweta, on the other hand, says, `I no longer live there and all my dues have been cleared.`
However according to a building committee member, `The total outstanding till now is Rs 2,41,305 for Shweta Salve and the due date is November 22. Once the society chairman is back, action will be taken. We might take legal recourse.`
