"'Highway' is a relationship film on the roads. It's about when you travel you discover more about the place you come from. 'Highway' is a discovery like that," Imtiaz said here Wednesday in an interview.
Imtiaz, who teamed up with big names like Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone for "Love Aaj Kal" and Ranbir Kapoor for "Rockstar", has roped in Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt to play the lead roles in "Highway".
When asked why he chose them instead of bigger stars, Imtiaz said: "I feel that if I work with honesty, then I need to choose actors according to the characters."
"Choosing an actor does not depend on my ability to sign a big actor. That would be of no use... a suitable actor is required for every role. I felt that these actors suit my roles and that's why I chose them," he added.
"Highway" hits theatres Feb 21 next year.
