Despite courting so many controversies during its Pre-release phase 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela' has managed to secure a grand opening at domestic BO.

Starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone and Gulshan Devaiah the movie on its opening day which incidentally fell on the day of Sachin's farewell test match, secured a decent amount of Rs 16 Crores.

On it's second day this much ambitious cine venture of SLB again witnessed a decent footfall and earned approx Rs 17.5 crores on Saturday. Even on Sunday success spree of 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela' continued and movie pocketed around 19.5 Crores, which made its first weekend earning around Rs 52 Crores.


First day earning of 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela' fetched for it the 10th slot in the list of Bollywood's top 25 openers, whereas besides this the movie turned out to be the 5th highest grosser of the year at its opening.

Where as if we talk about Kangana Ranaut, Prakash Raj starrer, "Rajjo, which made it to big screen along with 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela', then it kept on struggling on both the days and could only secure a collection of Rs 1.5 crore on Friday and barely touching Rs.2 crore mark on Saturday. "Rajjo" is basically the tale of nautch girl who circumstantially slips into the dark world of flesh trade and subsequently have to take many societal blows on face when she decides to lead her life in socially desirable manner.


Despite having a socially relevant theme at its core "Rajjo" could not do much on the BO, probably it was lack of promotion and confrontation with one of the biggest releases of the year that "Rajjo" could not sustain at the BO, and ended up crawling despite a noble story line and presence of an outstanding star-cast .

On the contrary if we talk about 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela' then the variables which clearly worked in the favor of the movie are Deepika -Ranveer's on and off screen chemistry, music, and obviously the SLB legacy which left very less room for the survival of any other cine competitor.

Even at its opening 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela' received a thumbs-up from critics where as Rajjo underwent the bashing due to its relatively weak content.


Now after witnessing the praiseworthy opening of 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela' it will be interesting to see that if 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela' can pause the success spree of, Krrish 3, which has literally smashed all the records by its performance at BO and take away the attention from it.
