On Monday the virtual world was alive with rumours of Adnan Sami's death. So strong were the rumours that they apparently reached the highest quarters in Delhi.
Coincidentally, Adnan was traveling with his wife Roya to the Capital when the death rumours broke out. Chuckles the musician, `I was on a flight with my wife Roya to Delhi. When I put on my phone there were, like, 50 messages asking if I was okay. It took me a while to figure why everyone was so concerned about my welfare.`
The first person Adnan called to reassure her he was well was his mother. `Such rumours are truly killing for the family.Do people who spread these malicious lies know what it feels like for the family to hear such a horrible thing? Of course no one calls and asks, 'Are you alive or dead?'. But until they hear your voice no amount of reassurance is enough.`
Since Adnan was out of Mumbai his home in Mumbai was flooded with anxious visitors. `My staff didn't know what was going on. There were suddenly all these people at the doorstep looking grim. Thankfully no one stepped forward to ask my domestic helpers if I am dead. They would've freaked out.`
On a more serious note Adnan warns, `People should just get a life and stop wishing others' death. I am a nobody. Artistes much bigger than me have been 'killed' by such rumours. I am sorry to disappoint my well-wishers. But I am not going away.`
