Not everybody in showbiz is famous for a justified reason. And not always does the real work -- or achievements, for that matter -- reflect on the resulting buzz. As a result, news gets created by hook and crook. Like every passing year, 2013 too wasn't neither short of such wannabes nor their tricks. However, not all of them desired to be the talking point. Some were accidentally famous while others were by design. HitLists picks a few of them...
Armaan Kohli
Mode: He's not the only one from Bigg Boss to be on our list but nobody else in the house has been around -- in entertainment business -- as long as he has. And needless to mention, he was very well forgotten before the reality show brought his need for anger management back to the forefront.
Poonam Pandey
Mode: They say no publicity is bad publicity? Well, this newbie ardently believes in it. Making the most of sensationalism and social media, Poonam is trying her level best to break in. In fact, her debut Bollywood film, Nasha, released this year (to empty cinema halls) but she's in no hurry to give up.
Sooraj Pancholi
Mode: Before he saw himself embroiled in legal battles related to Jiah Khan case, he was supposed to star in a Salman Khan production. The original plan hasn't derailed yet but the young man would have preferred minimum bad press before making his Bollywood debut.
Harman Baweja
Mode: After making a forgettable entry with Love Story (2008), he went on to star in the not-so-bad What's Your Raashee?. That's it. For the next three-plus years, he was seldom clicked. Then suddenly, he was in the news again in the second half of 2013 for being Bipasha Basu's alleged beau.
Anita Advani
Mode: Fame has too many relatives? Not sure. But right after yesteryear superstar Rajesh Khanna's demise, Anita was in the news for a short while and then largely forgotten. This year, she was back again full throttle with a surprise yet relatively short-lived stay in Bigg Boss.
Sofia Hayat
Mode: Her physical altercations with Armaan not only created buzz (and TRPs) but also might spell troubles on the latter once he's out of that chaotic house. We'll have to wait and watch. Also, before she became part of the show, we didn't know her. And not much has changed since.
VJ Andy
Mode: Before Bigg Boss aired, very few knew who Andy was or what he did for a living. As of now, he's known for his exuberant in-house drama and politics. A favourite to win this season, he prefers to see himself as an entertainer who is grossly misunderstood by others. Well, well.
Ajaz Khan
Mode: Although he's been part of some remarkably flop films for some years now, he has been largely out of picture for a long while. And then he received a wildcard entry into Bigg Boss and the funny guy hasn't missed a single moment to make the most of the limelight -- for good or for bad.
Kamaal R Khan
Mode: Known by his acronym KRK, he has been in the news for either saying something outrageous or posting something more outrageous on his microblogging site. So much so he launched his channel on YouTube in June where he spoofs Bollywood stars without a second thought.
Veena Malik
Mode: Controversy is surely her middle name. Outspoken at times and irrational at others, the Pakistani import saw herself providing fodder for coverage either by saying something foolish (`January 26 is a black day`) or doing something lame (visiting a red light area for her film's promotion). Ahem.
