In Retrospect: Bollywood actors and their duds of 2013

In Retrospect: Bollywood actors and their duds of 2013

Almost every Bollywood actor has done a film that has made his or her fans shake their heads in disbelief. The year 2013 was no different

Ranbir Kapoor: Besharam
RK Junior said that he did not regret doing Besharam as it was a learning experience. What he learnt from the film is quite debatable but the film did nothing to enhance his repertoire. From cliched lines lik e 'sharm nahi aati hai kya' to downright cheap humour, the film was not even unintentionally funny.

Dimple Kapadia: What the Fish
What a waste! The gorgeous Dimple Kapadia is reduced to an annoying aunt in the film. It's okay if it helps take the film further or add to her repute as an actress, but the consistent shrill and cacophony was a total turn off. We wish, she wasn't (mis)cast in this caricature of a loud aunt.

Imran Khan: Once upon a time in Mumbai dobaara
Imran Khan plays a Muslim character in the film, donning Pathani suits and a lucky gemstone ring as well. But the good luck didn't rub off him, he looked ill at ease standing up to hero Akshay Kumar who mouthed some truly cheesy dialogues.

Naseerudin Shah: Sona Spa
The veteran actor tried to do a spoof on the self-styled babas, but ended up as an abstract representation of an equally obscure script. According to Shah, what interested him about the film was the unusual and entertaining thought of having someone else sleep for you. All we can say is zzzzzzzzz...or better watch Inception on TV.

Ram Charan Teja: Zanjeer
We are not comparing him to the original hero (Amitabh Bachchan) of the original Zanjeer. But Ram Charan or the director's notion that a good physique and dare-devil stunts were enough to revive the magic of Zanjeer was laughable. The single expression that Ram Charan wore throughout the film didn't help the cause either.

Randeep Hooda: John Day
Though Randeep's act as the violent former cop Gautam wasn't too bad, the fact that he hammed through the greater part of the film was a let down. It looked like he too lost the plot of the film after a few scenes much like the director. The graphic scenes did nothing to enhance his character as well.

Leander Paes: Rajdhani Express
Paes' first film did enough to derail his movie career. The Wimbeldon champ might be an ace on the court but his dialogue delivery in this film left a lot to be desired.

Prachi Desai: Policegiri
Some star pairings make you nauseous. We wonder what the makers were thinking when they paired Prachi with Sanjay Dutt, who's well, above 50. Matters got more hilarious when Prachi said, `I am happy that I got to play my age.` Well Prachi, wearing hot pink and orange dresses is your age but making fun of your co-star's 'dhalti umar' on-screen is no formula for Bollywood romance. Watch Shaukeen if you don't get this.
