Year that was: 2013-Bollywood divas and their wardrobe goofups

They are part of a glamourous industry, but some of stars end up making a spectacle of themselves...

With a number of designers, makeup artists and hairstylists at their beck and all, one would expect our Bollywood celebs to look smashing 24x7. But even the best in the showbiz have an off day every now and then.

Vidya Balan

An ethereal beauty with a diaphanous veil running in slow motion looks lovely in Bollywood dream sequences, but in the real world it can prove to be the worst nightmare. At the Cannes festival, Vidya Balan sported a look that's getting extinct even from films. As much as we appreciate Vidya's loyalty towards Indian-ness and Sabyasachi, this one was a disastrous overkill. Vidya looked more like she was on the sets of a haveli in Rajasthan waiting to break into a dance any moment.

Sonakshi Sinha

Has she rolled in a jewellry store? The black and gold combo is said to be a safe one. However, one can always trust Sona to choose the wrong outfit. This embellished gown by Falguni and Shane Peacock didn't flatter her a bit and the deep back only highlighted her derriere. What takes the cake are the strategically placed gold feathers. Advice: Leave couture wear for the ramp models and choose what suits you best.

Rani Mukerji

Rani makes stunning appearences in sarees with big jhumkas or goes for the nerdy look with ganjis and specs. And then she comes looking like a Christmas tree gone wrong. That hideous crushed lehenga should be thrown away as far as possible.

Aishwarya Rai

Otherwise impeccably dressed, Aishwarya Rai went terribly wrong with this gold overdose of an outfit. And to add to the woes, the saree looked like it is made out of a mosquito net. If this hasn't got Bappi Lahiri gigling, we don't know what will.

Alia Bhatt

Alia's little girl charm works wonders otherwise, but when she appears looking like this, it is a disappointment. Alia, who generally is well dressed, goofed up big time with this semi-sheer gown, hanging on her thin frame like a cloak. The silhouette doesn't flatter her assets either.

Huma Qureshi

I am my own competition. This seems to be Huma Qureshi's mantra when it comes to worst-dressed polls. 2013 was glittered by examples set by her. The fashion critics might have almost given up on Huma's style sense, but we still hope 2014 might change things.

Sunny Leone
Sunny is comfortable with her body that we know. But this gown takes body fitting to another level altogether. While we kept figuring out how Sunny managed to pour herself into this breath-taking (for the wrong reasons) outfit, she seemed to have gotten out of it alive. Ah well.

Sameera Reddy

Sameera is known to take chances with her wardrobe but it hasn't always worked in her favour. Like this sheer horror of a gown with patches at strategic points, doesn't do anything to the girl's personality.

Richa Chadda

Richa is great in the acting department but falters in the fashion department. Not that she doesn't try, on the contrary, she tries a wee too hard. From a tight striped dress to this somewhat outdated looking Tarun Tahiliani outfit for an awards show, Richa's sartorial choices could be better.
