The New Year will witness a few interesting collaborations from actors and directors in Bollywood...

A fresh new year and obviously there will be fresh new expectations from Bollywood. We won't be disappointed at least as far as the fresh pairings are concerned. Looks like 2014 will throw up a lot of interesting combinations in terms of actors and directors. HitList points out a few of them below...

Farhan Akhtar-Shah Rukh Khan
The two have worked together earlier in Don and Don 2 in the capacity of being director and actor respectively. However, in Rahul Dholakia's next, Raees, Farhan plays a cop in the film and Shah Rukh Khan, a bootlegger.

Farhan Akhtar-Vidya Balan

The two versatile actors will be seen together in Balaji-PNC co-production, Shaadi Ke Side Effects. Like the title suggests, it deals with the complexities of married life with Vidya Balan playing an overprotective mother in the film. A romantic comedy directed by Saket Chaudhary and slated for early February release.

Farhan Akhtar-Kareena Kapoor
Farhan and Bebo will be seen playing a couple in Dev Benegal's Bombay Samurai. Though Kareena has worked in one of Farhan's home production, Talaash, the actress was keen on working with Farhan as an actor. With the project going on floor in February, it's expected to release by the year-end.

Kareena Kapoor- Hrithik Roshan

This is not a never done before pairing but it's been too long since we haven't seen them together. Karan Malhotra's Shuddhi starring the two stars goes on floor in July. The last time the two of them worked together was in Sooraj Barjatya's Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon more than a decade ago.

Farhan Akhtar-Amitabh Bachchan
AB and Farhan will come together for a film after nearly a decade. The two have been signed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra for a film to be directed by Bejoy Nambiar. The two have worked together in the past in Lakshya. Farhan had directed him in the film. Unfortunately, it failed to impress at the box office.

Amitabh Bachchan-Dhanush

Big B and the Raanjhanaa come together for R Balki's untitled next. If one looks at the casting, it has lineage of two other legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth. Kamal Haasan's daughter Akshara is making her debut while Dhanush happens to be Rajinikanth's son-in-law. There were reports about Balki approaching SRK for Dhanush's role which was denied by the filmmaker later.

Saif Ali Khan-Katrina Kaif

They have been cast in Kabir Khan's Phantom to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film will be shot in international destinations like Turkey, Lebanon and other countries. Katrina has earlier worked with Saif in Race but was not cast opposite him in the blockbuster.

Aditya Roy Kapur-Katrina Kaif

Abhishek Kapoor's Fitoor saw several names drop in and out of the casting race. The film earlier had Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead but the Kai Po Che star opted out of the project for Shekhar Kapur's Paani. Fitoor is likely to go on the floors mid-year and will be shot in Kashmir.

Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma
The two young stars have been paired together in Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet. The film, based on historian Gyan Prakash's Mumbai Fables, will be releasing on Christmas this year. Ranbir was earlier offered Band Baja Baarat (opposite Anushka) which he turned down and did regret later.

Anushka Sharma-Neil Bhoopalam
The two have been paired together in Navdeep Singh's NH10. Neel, who played one of the main leads in Anil Kapoor's 24, has earlier acted in Shaitan. He replaced Rajkumar Rao who was the first choice for the film. Also, Freida Pinto was earlier considered for Anushka's role.

Priyanka Chopra-Ranveer Singh

As far as hyperactivity and spunk, not many in the industry can beat PC and Ranveer. Interestingly, the two are playing lovers in Ali Abbas Zafar's Gunday while they are paired as siblings in Zoya Akhtar's untitled next. Sounds like a paradigm shift worth waiting.

Randeep Hooda-Alia Bhatt

The unlikely pairing of Alia and Randeep will be seen in Imtiaz Ali's road drama Highway. Earlier, Ali apparently had thought of an older actress for the role but later decided to sign Alia as the role was that of a city girl who has not seen much of life. The film has been shot on the highways of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir.
