After tickling the audiences funny bone with his debut directorial "Mr. Joe B Carvalho", Samir Tewari's next movie will be a serious drama.

"My first film is a comedy, but I personally enjoy serious drama. My next film will certainly be a serious film and I have started working on it," Tewari told IANS.

"Mr. Joe B Carvalho", which released Friday, features Arshad Warsi and Soha Ali Khan in the lead.

Tewari actually wanted to debut as a filmmaker with a serious film, but things didn't work.

"When I first approached Arshad Warsi for a film, I went to him with a script of a serious film, but things didn't work out. When things didn't materialise, Arshad came to me with the script of 'Mr. Joe B Carvalho', eventually we all liked it and so we made the film."

The director says "comedy is not easy at all".

"It is a lot more difficult than serious drama. I feel a serious film also gets a lot more respect from the audience than comedy," he added.
