If sources are to be believed, Guneet Monga, who was initially producing the film Bombay Fairytale along with Reliance Entertainment, is no longer helming the project.
The big budget film, which traces the story of the first Indian to make an airplane, will now be produced by Vishal Gurnani's company Trilogic Digital Media Limited. It is being said that Gurnani, who was on board right from day one, will now play a larger role in the film's production.
The first schedule of the film, which stars Ayushmann Khurana, has been shot in Mumbai, while the second one is currently being shot in Gondal, Rajkot in Gujarat. Industry sources say that the film faced financial troubles after the first schedule when some of Guneet's cheques bounced. This is said to have prompted Reliance Entertainment to hand over the reins to Vishal Gurnani.
When contacted, Vishal didn't deny his involvement with the project. `Initially, Guneet and I were producing the film but now only my company is producing it and Reliance is the studio backing us.` However, he insisted that he shares a healthy working relationship with Guneet. `Some other projects have taken up her time and hence, she has opted out of this one,` he said.
Sameer Chopra, head of marketing, Reliance Entertainment, echoed Gurnani's statement. `Guneet Monga's company Sikhya had been handling the on-ground production of the film till recently. But owing to Sikhya's other commitments, Triologic is now playing a larger role in the production of the film. Also, no cheques have bounced during the making of the film,` he said.
Meanwhile, Guneet Monga has asserted that Sikhya is jointly producing the film with Vishal's company and Reliance Entertainment. `"We began the journey of the film together and nothing has changed. This is a grand film and Vibhu Puri's dream project,` she said upon being contacted.
