Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav was today granted a month's time to repay Rs 5 crore to a Delhi- based businessman, who had filed a suit against him and his wife for recovering the money lent to them for their Hindi directorial debut film.
Justice G S Sistani granted time till February 17 to Yadav to pay the money to businessman M G Agarwal's company Murli Projects, taken in 2010 for making "Ata Pata Laapata".
Yadav today told the court that he needs time to pay back the money as he does not have that amount.
Earlier, the high court had sentenced Yadav to 10-day imprisonment for misleading the court by avoiding appearance and lying about his whereabouts. His wife was shown leniency on the ground that she has an infant to look after.
The sentence was later suspended after Yadav appealed.
