Contrary to expectations, despite a wide spread release on almost 4500 screens, this directorial venture of Salman's brother Sohail could not secure a bumper opening and only managed to earn Rs 17.75 crore on Friday.
Despite good word of mouth publicity and Salman's star-power business of movie, further plunged on Saturday, and "Jai Ho" could only earn Rs 16.68 crores from the ticket window.
But unlike the response that "Jai Ho" received on the first two days, the business of the movie picked up on Sunday, when this Salman starrer made Rs 26.25 crores, eventually pushing its opening weekend earning mark up-to 60.68 crores.
Revealing the earning stats of Jai Ho's first weekend, cine trend analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:
#JaiHo Fri 17.75 cr, Sat 16.68 cr, Sun *est* 26.25 cr. Total: ₹ 60.68 cr nett. India biz only. Figures from my sources & confirmed with Eros

Although when "Jai Ho" was about to hit the silver screen, keeping in view its wide-spread release, many expected that it may break the earning record set by, Aamir's "Dhoom 3", but probably it was because of low prices of the tickets that "Jai Ho" couldn't even near the first day collection of "Dhoom 3".
If reports are to be believed, then even Salman's praising NaMo during his Gujarat visit also fetched ire for "Jai Ho". And that's because this gesture of Sallu didn't go down well with certain community, which decided to boycott "Jai Ho", furthering decimating the earning potential of the movie.
