A success story
Though 24 is over, I am still getting compliments for the show and my role. Frankly, I never expected it to be so huge. When Anil (Kapoor) offered me this show and said that it will be beyond my expectations, I didn't take him too seriously. Even when it began, the initial response was lukewarm. But it picked up phenomenally and I remembered Anil's words then. It's a matter of pride for me that people who saw the original series were thrilled with the Indian version too. If there's going to be a new season of the show and they want me to feature in it, I am game for it, of course (smiles).
More television
I am all for another show if it is launched on a big scale and has the gumption and self-belief that 24 had. But I am not in favour of a reality show unless I am hosting one. I am definitely not cut out for a show like Bigg Boss because I am too private a person. Also I talk straight without any manipulations, so there would a huge ruckus. Apart from that, I have this crooked sense of humour which can create a furore (laughs loudly).
A different genre
I have done some interesting and meaningful films like Firaaq, Taare Zameen Par and OMG. Having said that, I am dying to do a comedy film. In fact, I was offered one recently but unfortunately I couldn't take it up owing to date issues. Thankfully, with the success of 24, people are approaching me with different kinds of roles.
The period drama
I am doing the Hindi and Tamil version of the film based on Mahesh Manjrekar's 2012 hit Marathi film Kaksparsh. It's a period drama and I am starring alongside Arvind Swamy. He's a delight to work with and is looking better than ever.
Getting booked
My book is available online and will be out in the market in a couple of days. It's a book for those who come into the film industry to make it big. People who have no connections, godfather or anyone to guide them can make several mistakes. It's a guide for them on managing themselves. There are interesting accounts and anecdotes from industry people like Anil Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali, Shabana Azmi and Anurag Kashyap to name a few. When I told my friends from the industry about the concept of the book, they were very supportive. I don't promise that people will become super stars after reading the book but it can save them some heartbreaks for sure.
