Gyan Correa, director of the acclaimed film 'The Good Road', has joined hands with Frameboxx, an animation and visual effects training studio in Mumbai.
As part of this programme, the director of India's official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards this year, will be mentoring students by teaching them about digital filmmaking.
Correa, whose film also won the National Award for the best Gujarati film last year, has directed over 500 TV commercials and documentaries. His work straddles the worlds of advertising, NGOs and art.
`Filmmaking is a skill born of that right blend of theory and practice. It's exciting that Frameboxx has given me a chance to develop a platform for the next generation of filmmakers.
The box-office way is to have students far spend more time in the field making films, rather than in classroom lecture. That's exciting and compelling,` he says, adding that the one-year course will see students will gain practical experience by assisting him in various projects - be it advertising, film direction and production.
