Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali says says it was "overwhelming" to announce the first show of his movie at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival, where it had its world premiere.

The Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda-starrer "Highway" premiered in the panorama section of the film festival Thursday.

"This is the first time that a movie of mine is at a film festival. I couldn't have asked for a better one. It was overwhelming to stand on stage at the Zoo Palast and announce the first show of 'Highway'," Ali said in a statement.

"Highway", produced by Window Seat Films and presented by Sajid Nadiadwala, will release Feb 21.
