Be it Kancha Cheena, Bakhtawar or Khuda Baksh, Danny Denzongpa has portrayed some memorable characters in Hindi cinema. Recently, he was seen in films like 'Jai Ho!' and 'Boss'. On the occasion of his 66th birthday today, CS recaps some of his imposing roles so far.

1. Katya in Ghatak

Having a tiger as a pet was Katya's style. But his rule of tyranny was destroyed by Kashi (Sunny Deol) with his inimitable fisticuffs. 2. Sher Khan in Sanam Bewafa

His family fued with Fateh Ali Khan (played by Pran) was the bone of contention in the lives of young lovers, Salman (Salman Khan) and Rukhsar (played by Chandni).

3. Kancha Cheena in Agneepath

Who can forget the flamboyant and menacing villian wreaking havoc in Mandwa? As the antagonist in Vijay Dinanath Chauhan's (Amitabh Bachchan) life, he fuelled this cult vengeance drama.

4. Bakhtawar in Hum

Bakhtawar is a distraught man who wants to seek revenge on Tiger (Amitabh Bachchan) and his loving family.

5. Baksh in Laila Majnu

The star-crossed lovers (played by Rishi Kapoor and Ranjeeta) have several odds against them. Laila is married to her ardent admirer Baksh (Danny), who is unable to win her heart.

6. Sanju in Mere Apne

In a small yet interesting role as one of Vinod Khanna's buddies, Danny was noticed in the popular song 'Haal chaal theek thaak hai...'

7. Shera in Kala Sona

The 1975 action thriller had the hit song 'Sun sun kasam se' picturised on Danny and Farida Jalal. The song was sung by Danny himself with Asha Bhonsle.

Jankura in Dharmatma: As the nomadic boy besotted with a girl from his tribe, Reshma (Hema Malini), Danny is out to kill Feroz Khan, the man Reshma gives her life for.

Lobo and Manjit in Bulandi: Playing the double role of a wealthy man and his young son, the film was a huge success at the box-office.

Inspector Barua in Aitbaar: As he embarks on cracking a murder mystery, Danny showed off his intense acting in this story of infidelty and deception.

Ranjit Singh in Dhund: This 1973 film had Danny playing a ruthless man, who is murdered by his young wife (played by Zeenat Aman).

Narendra nath in Khote Sikkay: Danny shone as the parallel lead alongside Vinod Khanna, both of whom are hired to save a village from dacoits.

Khuda Bakshi in Khuda Gawah: As the childhood friend of Badshah Khan (Amitabh Bachchan), Danny was loved by the audience in this story of love and separation.
