She was last seen in Naa Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha on Colors against the main lead shooting till the fifth month of her pregnancy. As a dedicated professional, she returned to acting as soon as her daughter turned one, as Deepika opposite the hero in Sanskaar Dharohar Apnon Ki.
Elaborating on her role, she says, `Playing a schizophrenic patient has caught the attention of audiences. And interestingly, I am now playing much younger roles. `
`Earlier, I played Jai Soni's bhabhi in Sasuraal Genda Phool and now I am paired opposite to him. Whenever we're doing romantic scenes, he calls me bhabhi and we both burst out laughing,` she chuckles.
Talking about her character, Pooja reveals, `The minute I hold my chain, I start feeling possessed. People meet me and say that they wait to see what I am going to do next the minute they see me holding my chain. This gesture seems to have made an instant connect.`
Pooja has drawn inspiration for her scenes from Vidya Balan's role in 'Bhool Bhulaiya.' She says, `Very often we do scenes where I get hysterical attacks. But it takes a while for me to get out of this state. My body trembles and my heart rate is fast for several minutes after doing such scenes.`
To get into the skin of the character Pooja has done a lot of research on schizophrenia. `I spoke to a friend who is a psychotherapist to learn about the behavior of schizophrenic patients and also some parents of such children.`
The track was supposed to be a cameo for a month, but looking at the audience reactions it has gone on much longer and people are loving it. `A comeback can't get better than this,` Pooja signs off.
