A non-cognisable offence was registered against superstar Akshay Kumar's bodyguard Shreysay Thele at Bangur Nagar police station on Saturday afternoon after a dentist Dr Shailesh Sharma alleged that the actor's bodyguard slapped him and hit him on the face, resulting in a swelling near the right ear.
Speaking to sunday mid-day about the incident Dr Sharma said, `I was getting out my house Evershine Grandeur when I saw Akshay Kumar sitting in a police van. I stopped to catch a glimpse of the actor when I heard someone screaming at me. By the time I could react, a big, tall man accosted me and started hurling abuses. When I told him to mind his language, he pushed and slapped me on the right side of my face and held me by my collar. Akshay was sitting in the van across the road.`
Sharma's relatives, who came to his rescue, then dialed 100 to call the police after which Thele was taken to the police station.
Sharma said, `I was sent to Siddharth hospital for a medical check up and referred to ENT specialist Dr BM Khandelwal. I was told there is a swelling and my jaw is still hurting. The man was a giant. His slap shook me completely. Akshay is a big star but it is sad that he didn't bother to stop the man who was so ruthless.`
Dr Sharma is not happy with the police registering only an NC in a case when the person allegedly threatened to kill him. Rude bodyguards not uncommon
Industry sources are not surprised by the security guard's behaviour.
A senior photographer said `These guards behave like superstars and are rude to people. There have been several cases in the past when photographers have got into a scuffle with them.`
Another senior photographer cited a recent incident of an actor catching his security red-handed leaking information about their schedule. The security guard was pulled up by the actor.
A police officer from Bangur Nagar police station said, `We have registered an NC offence under section 323, 504 and 506. We will take further action after discussing the matter with our superior officers.
