She plays a traumatised mother in her first thriller 'Deadline', which releases later this year.
Talking to reporters during the shooting of the film's climax along with co-actors Irfan Khan and Rajit Kapoor here yesterday, she said the crux of the story was the kidnapping of her child.
'Deadline' is directed by Tanvir Khan who has earlier made 'Madhoshi'.
''I play Sanjana Goenka, whose child is kidnapped. It's a thriller and I am very excited,'' the 'Page 3' actress said.
Irfan plays the kidnapper in the film. He was all praise for the talent and abilities of Konkana and felt she had it in her to carry on the legacy late Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi.
Konkana, daughter of ace film-maker Aparna Sen, had made her debut with a bang in 'Mr and Mrs Iyer' for which she won a National Award.
The Madhur Bhandarkar-directed 'Page 3', in which she played a journalist, was also critically acclaimed and won the appreciation at the box office. The film was also honoured with a National Award this year.
