In his glorious writing career Singh greatly contributed to Indian literature and authored books like Train to Pakistan, The History of Sikhs, Black Jasmine, Tradition of Punjab and his last one The Good, The Bad and The Ridiculous.
Born on February 2 1915 at Hadali, now in Pakistan, Singh besides contributing to literature also aided journalism arena and served as the editor of Illustrated Weekly of India and later the Hindustan Times.
Singh also remained Member of Parliament from 1980 -1986.
In his decades long career, Khushwant Singh, besides his marvelous writing prowess also remained popular for his acidic honesty, which once got proved when returned Padma Bhushan award in 1984 in protest against the storming of the Golden Temple in Amritsar by the Army.
