The film has been delayed on more than once. Why? In a film like this even a leaf flying in the background has to be created. Films like these take five years to complete. We pulled it off in much lesser time.
Wasn't the recent postponement because you wanted to avoid a clash with the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Bhootnath Returns? From a business point of view that would be correct but you can't compare Kochadaiiyaan to a live-action film.
Apparently, your dad's frail health was another reason for the delay... Not really. But yes, we had a tough time when dad was unwell and to add to our woes, the media started writing that he had a kidney transplant.
So what was the ailment? I wouldn't like to discuss that.
Did it necessitate any compromises? No, but the fact that we were translating emotions into 3D images did make it less strenuous for every actor involved. We didn't want to strain dad after he returned home hale and hearty.
Are you working on a new subject with him? Not yet, but in future, why not?
Did your dad give his inputs while you were directing? But of course! I even discussed the scenes with my composer A R Rahman and took his inputs. The technicians working with me were all veterans.
Why did you get Deepika Padukone's voice dubbed? Kochadaiyaan is a period film and we wanted authentic Tamil pronunciation. Besides, Deepika wasn't available when we scheduled the dubbing.
Shah Rukh Khan roped in your dad for a scene in RA.One. Weren't you tempted to cast him in your film? The script didn't give me a chance, but I would love to work with him. He is a dear friend.
