Aaditya Dutt may be better known as the grandson of late lyricist Anand Bakshi, but his debut film ‘Ashiq Banaya Aapne' has proved that he is a talented director.

Despite a lesser-known starcast and a modest budget of rupees 2.4 crore, the film is doing well at the box-office and managed to recover costs within a week of its release.

Aaditya, 21, who quit his study at the age of 16 and started his career with Vikram Bhatt an assistant director in ‘Kasoor', surprised everybody when he made ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne', packed with ample glamour and trendy music.

Aaditya wrapped up the film starring Emran Hashmi and Tanushree Datta in flat 37 days and released it on September 2. The script for the movie was finalised in January and shooting was started in May.

It is yet another example of an emerging profitable business module in small towns with newcomers and simple storylines.

Aaditya says that that his love for filmmaking has strengthened him to compete with all the senior directors in Bollywood.

"I always say that age is not a factor to direct a film. My films are in competition with other directors. It could be young or aged. I don't care," he said.

Aditya idolises some senior directors, namely Tanuja Chandra, Mahesh Bhatt, Subhash Ghai and Yash Chopra.

"They are all senior directors and I respect them because they are in the industry for a long time and making amazing films. I take inspiration from them and have learned a lot," he added.

When asked about his "perfect" sense for melodious music, he said, "I was confident that the music would do well because I feel that's the gift that I have inherited from my grandfather. Something within me clicks when I hear good music."

Aditya says that he is like any other guy of this age, and loves to play video games, hanging out with friends and parting out. Currently, he is busy with some other projects, the details of which he did not wish to divulge.

Aditya had worked as an assistant to Tanuja Chandra for a series of five telefilms, produced by Mukesh Bhatt. He became her chief assistant director on ‘Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar', which was penned by Mahesh Bhatt.

Aaditya also assisted Chandra on one of her most memorable works ‘Sur'. Lately, he also worked as an associate director on her latest movie ‘Film Star'.
