Known for making movies on real-life subjects and issues, Madhur Bhandarkar is said to be gearing up for a film on Prime Minister designate, Narendra Modi. The filmmaker has apparently been meeting the BJP heavyweight for quite some time now.
A source close to Bhandarkar said, "Madhur has been studying Modi and researching on his life for a long time. He even has a team working on the subject."
The filmmaker had been vocal about his support to Modi during elections and even travelled to various cities asking people to vote for Modi. He had labelled the politician a 'visionary leader' after a section of the film industry went about urging the masses to vote for a secular leader.
He had tweeted earlier, "Let's hope better sense prevails and our film industry elects Narendra Modi with a thumping majority. It's time India got a visionary leader. Launching a personal attack on a man who has done more for his state than any other leader, reeks of conspiracy and unwarranted paranoia."
When asked about his plans on capturing Narendra Modi's life on celluloid, Bhandarkar said that NaMo's is a story of triumph, which needs to be told to the world. "It is the story of how a common man becomes the Prime Minister of the country," he said.
He plans to start working on the film after completing Calender Girls, which will soon go on the floors.
