It was an an unusual day for the Mubaiites when many industrialists, Bollywood personalities and Members of Parliament participated in a car rally recently.
Bollywood actors, Dino Morea, Ashmit Patel, Sohail Khan and Suniel Shetty came up with the best of the cars from their garages to join the 26-car team that covered the
the Mumbai-Pune Highway to and fro.
They formed of the first-ever Voltas Moto Xtreme, a 10-hour race, which covered a stretch of 360 kilometres. The earnings from the event will go to Save the Children India
(STCI), which is raising funds to build a school for underprivileged children.
On the event, the Formula 1 driver Narain Karthikeyan said: "It is the first of its kind in India. Obviosly, it supports the cause of save the children India foundation. It's a great
event. So, hopefully many more will come in."
Actor Suniel Shetty, who is the brand ambassador for STCI said:
"I have not done any special preparations. It was only at the behest of supporters and my association with save the children (STCI) I particitpated."
As Audis, Porsches, Bentleys, Mercs and Land Cruisers rolled out, the cheers got louder.
Many others from the Bollywood like Ishaa Koppikar, Jackie Shroff and Jaaved Jaffrey, even though didn't participate in the rally, showed up to cheer their friends.
