Relationships in Bollywood don't always end in a cordial fashion

In the fickle world of today, finding love that lasts is perhaps a tall order. Even among those who do, things don't always end on a good note.

Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia

Preity Zinta dated businessman Ness Wadia from 2005 till May 2009. She recently filed a complaint with the Mumbai police against Ness, alleging that he had molested, threatened and abused her at an IPL match in May this year.

Relationships can be very demanding and particularly in Bollywood, the happy endings are evened out by the sad ones. A case in point would be the ugly turn that the Preity Zinta-Ness Wadia relationship has taken. With the former lovers exchanging a volley of accusations in the open, hitlist takes a look at some Bollywood love stories that went wrong.

Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone

Lowdown:
The two fell in love during the shooting of Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008. However, despite their public romance - Deepika even had an RK tattoo done on the nape of her neck - the couple called it splits the following year; the reason wasn't specified. Then Dippy took a dig at her ex-beau on a popular TV chat show. Interestingly, the duo worked together in one of 2013's biggest hits, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor

Lowdown:
They made a good couple but during the shooting of their hit film, Jab We Met (2008), they called off their three-year-old relationship. Though the two made sure they didn't cross paths again - forget working together in a film - they both have exercised verbal caution given Bebo's relationship with Saif Ali Khan, whom she has married now.

John Abraham-Bipasha Basu

Lowdown:
John and Bips started dating each other on the sets of Jism (2002) and they were a couple for almost a decade before going their own separate ways. In the beginning, the two maintained a stoic silence about their breakup. But things changed when the Bengali bombshell decided to open up about their relationship. This was followed by the actor-producer's rebuttal on the subject.

Sushmita Sen-Randeep Hooda

Lowdown:
She was a Miss Universe who had forayed into Bollywood while he was a struggling actor trying to make it big in the industry. The two were together for three years and when they separated, the Highway star had much to look back upon. He felt that he had invested way too much into their relationship, thus neglecting his acting career. Going by his current rise, he shouldn't have much to complain.

Ranvir Shorey-Pooja Bhatt

Lowdown:
Ranvir has had his share of ups and downs as far as relationships are concerned. The actor dated actress-producer Pooja Bhatt for a while but their relationship was apparently marked by outbursts of violence. Needless to say, it ended abruptly amid accusations of violence by both parties. He later married actress Konkana Sen Sharma while Pooja is married to Manish Makhija.

Neil Nitin Mukesh-Asin

Lowdown:
Neil once told hitlist that Cupid tends to be stupid when it comes to love. And it seems that he was referring to his own love life. After his much-publicised romance with Asin, the two called it quits over - believe it or not - text messages. Later, both the actors sounded pessimistic about their doomed relationship, thus contributing to speculation about the reasons behind their rather inimical breakup.

Leander Paes-Mahima Chaudhry

Lowdown:
In 2004, the world got to know about the celebrated tennis player's troubled relationship with the Pardes actress. In fact, the couple resorted to mudslinging. According to Mahima, Leander was unfaithful as he was already seeing another woman while they were still together. Later, it came to notice that Leander had moved on to dating former model Rhea Pillai.
